DCA — Dollar-Cost Averaging

Buy a fixed amount on a fixed schedule, regardless of price.

What is DCA?

Dollar-cost averaging spends a fixed amount of your quote asset (e.g. USDC or USDG) to buy the base asset at a regular interval — for example, $25 of SOL every day — no matter what the price is at that moment. Over time this smooths out your average entry price and removes the pressure of trying to time the market.

DCA is a one-directional, buy-only accumulation strategy: it steadily builds your position but it does not sell. If you want to capture profit on price swings in a range, that's what Grid trading is for.

How to set it up

Amount per buy

in the quote token, e.g. USDC

How much to spend on the base asset at each scheduled buy.

Buy every

interval, e.g. every 1 day

How often a recurring buy fires. Supports minutes, hours, and days.

Price ceiling

optional, in quote token

If set, a scheduled buy is skipped whenever the base asset is at or above this price — so you stop buying when it gets expensive.

When to use it

Long-term accumulation

You're bullish on an asset over the long run and want to keep adding to your position.

Uncertain or choppy markets

You can't confidently pick a bottom, so you spread your entries out over time instead.

Remove emotion and timing risk

Buys fire on schedule, not on impulse — no reacting to every candle.

Build over weeks or months

Steadily grow a position on a recurring budget without a lump sum up front.

No range profits

DCA won't capture profit from price bouncing in a range — use Grid for that.

Strong uptrend

In a straight, strong uptrend a single lump sum can outperform spreading buys out.

Prolonged downtrend

DCA keeps buying as price falls unless you set a price ceiling to pause purchases.

Best time to use DCA

  • You have a long time horizon and a recurring budget.
  • You're bullish long-term but unsure about short-term direction.
  • You want a disciplined, hands-off accumulation plan.
  • You don't want to watch charts.
